What we do October 11 2016
We design and make luxurious women’s clothing to fit you perfectly. We release just one outfit per month made-to-order, we call these the Monthly Editions. We refer to our clothes as ‘elevated work wear’ because we like to work with the typologies of the classic wardrobe, so you will see a focus on interpretations of shirts, pants and jackets, dresses and t-shirts. We make versatile clothes you can wear in any context. The ‘elevated’ comes through in the boldness of each design. Each piece has intense attention to detail, a unique approach to cut and is made from specialist textiles – often designed in collaboration with talented friends. We love unusual combinations of colour and texture and are not afraid to eschew fashion trends.
We work with our clients, helping them achieve the perfect fit and taking on the advice they give us, they are all amazing creative women that inspire us. You can meet some of our clients through our Insight Series. We look forward to meeting you too!
How we do it (with you) October 10 2016
Each Monthly Edition is released through our website and mailing list (sign up here if you are not already on it) with a three week ordering period. You simply
- Select your style and place your order online (paying for it in full to secure your order)
- Send us your measurements and desired length (ask us to send you our custom Chorus Measuring Tape and Guide) or consult our guide and let us know if you have any other requirements.
- Wait for us to individually cut your order in our studio, have it expertly sewn here in Melbourne by one of our team of local makers, package it with care and send it to you. It takes time for us to achieve our custom fit and high standard of make but we hope it is worth it to have a special piece that fits you and your lifestyle perfectly. Your piece will arrive within five weeks of the order window closing.
What happens if your piece is not perfect? As we make only the orders we receive this means your piece will be made exclusively for you and we carry no stock. If it should happen not to suit you or fit perfectly we will make any alterations needed free of charge or gladly credit you toward a future order.
If you are in Melbourne you can view and try on samples of each Monthly Edition in person at Boutique Milly Sleeping in Carlton.
Why we do it October 09 2016
The fashion system is a complicated one, and some of it's constructs no longer made sense to us. The most undesirable by-product of producing seasonal collections was waste - wasted time, energy and ideas, but also physical waste. Left over fabrics, left over stock that ends up on sale racks or in recycling bins. In reaction to this and with a desire to operate more sustainably Chorus has created the Monthly Edition system, with all pieces made-to-order in Melbourne, Australia by expert makers.
By ordering a Chorus piece you are not only acquiring a unique piece of design but you are supporting our local industry and making a sustainable choice.
